Meet Mataeo

Meet Mataeo, our recent intern, who has been spending his Tuesday afternoons for the last four months learning from our traders, CJ and Alex.

After taking part in the 2023 KPMG’s Investment Challenge Mataeo wanted to dive deeper. He was interested in seeing the real working world applications after getting exposure to an online trading platform in the KPMG Investment Challenge. He reached out to us to find out about the career options within the investment space and to experience the world of trading firsthand as a part of his finance class at MSA. Working closely with CJ and Alex, he gained expertise in essential trade desk functions such as trade execution, daily trade recaps, stock quotes, bond yields, and even delving into the basics of futures and option trading and FX trading. 

One of the highlights of Mataeo’s internship was analysing incoming ECO Data and understanding market reactions. He also explored the far-reaching implications of the Ukraine-Russia conflict on global markets and discussed safe-haven stocks and sectors amidst inflation and systematic risk. 

Mataeo said, “My time at LOM Financial has been a tremendous learning experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of finance and feel better equipped to make future decisions in my career path.”
